Blanton's

Blanton's is produced at Buffalo Trace distillery which is located in Frankfort, Kentucky.

The distillery was founded in 1787, although a more modern one using steam power was built on the grounds in 1857.

E.H. Taylor Jr. purchased the distillery in 1870 and modernised it further when in 1886 he introduced climate-controlled warehousing and during prohibition the distillery was granted a rare license allowing it to continue for medicinal purposes.

The Sazerac company purchased the distillery in 1992 and immediately renamed it to Buffalo Trace in recognition of the herds of buffalo which once roamed freely in the region.
