Chiemsee Known as the "Bavarian Sea", Chiemsee is Germany's largest lake. A gift of the last ice age and fed from pure alpine water, it lies amid some of Europe's most beautiful scenery. At all times of the year the locals and a multitude of tourists cherish the lake's offerings for a romantic or sporting break. The photo on the left shows the "Fraueninsel" (Ladies' Island) with the tower of the ancient convent after which the island was named. |
